Preferred Officer Positions
1) VP of Competitive Excellence
The main reason this position is my first pick, is because the competition aspect of DECA is what inspired me to apply for a chapter position in the first place. As a freshman I hadn't participated in my local chapter's activities until districts. To my surprise I made it all the way to Atlanta, Georgia for ICDC. Looking back it was one of the best experiences of my high school career. A short two weeks later I was applying for a VP position and when I succeeded I couldn't have been more excited to see where this new organization would take me. I am extremely passionate about competition and thanks to my success and the numerous skills I have developed from it I cannot wait to create the resources to enable others to do the same.
2) VP of Event Management
Throughout my life my love language has always been gift giving & acts of service. While everyone else groans about the Christmas season and spending money on others, I smile big thinking about the perfect gift to buy and take so much joy in their reactions. This is one reason I believe I would do an excellent job in this position. Being a perfectionist, I pay attention to the smallest details and will go the extra mile. Due to my previous positions I have experience communicating with business professionals, contacting local media, creating promotional materials, and most importantly recapping the event. I have recorded and edited our membership videos for the past two years. In addition, I created Wausau West DECA's Trick-or-Can recap video for 2023, which was deemed the best in all of Wisconsin DECA.
3) VP of Community Service
Recently, when talking to other students within my school, it has been made clear to me that non-DECA members believe there is an uneven distribution of resources between clubs within our school. We have to admit that with SBE enterprises and sponsorships with local businesses, our organization has the greatest ability to impact our community in a positive manner. Knowing this I would love to encourage other chapters to do the same, and more importantly, with numerous clubs and local businesses as well, in an effort to lift up even more community members.
4) VP of Membership Development
As a high school student I find that some of the most impactful speakers I have heard from are those I could identify with. For instance, as a freshman in marketing, each week we heard from previous Wausau West DECA members. Getting to see the journey they had taken from where I was to where they are was inspiring, and for this reason, I would love to help strengthen our alumni program. For the same reason, DECA chapters should connect with their middle schools as mentorship can be a powerful tool. I believe I could improve this aspect if given this position.
5) President
If given this position I would put in the amount of work necessary to maintain and improve Wisconsin DECA overall as an organization. However, I feel it would be irresponsible to pursue this position without what I feel is the ample time to perform it to the best of my ability. Rather than small and timely tasks I do better with overarching projects. If I come to the decision to run for this position I will make the decision to give up the appropriate number of activities, but at this time I am not willing to do so. Knowing this I will see where I am led throughout this process.
